Doug & Anna | Avalon, NJ Wedding Photographer

Anna and I met back in the 5th grade when watching What’s Eating Gilbert Grape or picking a color for our braces were the most important things in our lives. Her and I were inseparable for a long, long time. We were always incredibly well behaved and we NEVER got into trouble. And yes, I’m going to stick with that story.

Anna went off to college at Kutztown and after she brought Doug along for one of her visits home, I knew she’d found something special with him. Almost 9 years later I was making the drive to Avalon to photograph their wedding! Everything about their wedding day was perfect. Anna looked phenomenal (as always), we had amazing weather, and I had so much fun working with everyone.

AJ & Jen | Loch Nairn Golf Club Wedding

On Saturday I photographed AJ and Jen’s wedding. They had a very intimate ceremony followed by a dinner with their closest friends and family at Loch Nairn Golf Club. There is no questioning how in love Aj and Jen are with each other!

The two of them were so laid back and easy to work with. We even stopped at Wawa (one of their favorite places) to grab an Icee on the way to dinner. It was pouring rain most of the evening, and not only were we planning on taking their photos outside, their dinner was held under a tent. Even with all of that I don’t think either of them stressed over it. Luckily for us, we had about 5 minutes where it wasn’t raining and we snuck out to take a few photos.

I loved how cozy the dinner was. No first dance, no bouquet toss, no dance floor, just a relaxed evening with those who AJ and Jen love the most. You don’t always need an over the top reception to celebrate your love and I’m glad I was able to document Aj & Jen’s wedding for them. Enjoy a few previews!

Announcement! | Philadelphia Area Newborn Photographer

This is something I’ve given a ton of thought over the past year and I think it’s time to finally make the announcement! For years I have offered the posed studio-style newborn sessions. Nothing is cuter than a little baby sleeping on a soft blanket backdrop wearing an adorable little knit hat or headband. I know everyone loves them, but the images that really speak to me are the ones of a family interacting with their new little one. Being a mother of two, the things that still stand out in my mind are the moments like our daughter sleeping on my husbands chest when we first brought her home, or how excited my son got anytime he was able to hold her. One of my biggest goals as a photographer is to document emotion & create an image that makes you feel something…not just say “Awwwww!”. My heart isn’t in waiting hours for a baby to fall asleep and then seeing how many baskets I can put a sleeping baby into, or how many backdrops and hats/headbands I can use…it’s in the real moments. So from here on out I will be only offering lifestyle newborn sessions.

What is a lifestyle newborn session?

It is a session that captures you and your baby in a natural environment, usually at home, just doing everyday family things (sleeping, cuddling, nursing, ect.). I will do a very small amount of posing baby by themselves with cute hats, blankets or headbands, and instead incorporate posing baby in your arms, nestled on your shoulder, or laying in their bassinet. It shows your family in a more natural way, focusing more on capturing a photojournalistic view of everyday events.

Donohoe Family | Montgomery County Family Photographer

I was lucky enough to spend my Saturday morning with this adorable family who just welcomed their second little boy, Ryan into the world. Thanks to the warmer weather that we’ve been enjoying lately we were able to head outside for some photos. It was so sweet to watch Sean interact with his new little brother. The posed newborn photos are always adorable, but I really love just documenting a family lovin’ on their new little one.

Not only was this whole family awesome to photograph…they sent me home with lunch. It doesn’t get much better than that! Here are a few of my favorite photos from our session.

I Bought My House Because of a Field. Well, kind of…

One of the reasons I wanted the house we purchased was because of the field directly next to it. I knew I’d be dragging the kids out in it to take pictures. I love that when I see some gorgeous light, I can walk 30 steps from my house and get photos like this. It’s not a huge, beautiful field, but the sun sets directly behind it and the light is pretty phenomenal most evenings. Here are a few shots I got last night of my little girl before she took off. The last picture was one that I took when we got home from running errands the day before. I got about 5 pictures and then the light was gone, so I of course had to drag her out again-this time with a clean face and clothes.

Isabella is One! | Chester County Children Photographer

Some of you might remember this picture from Isabella’s newborn session…

A year has flown by and it’s hard to believe we just did her first birthday pictures! Aside from mom possibly leaving with a broken nose (she’s ok and is laughing about it), we had an awesome session. Isabella was totally content and her cousins, Abigail and Kendal, were incredibly helpful. I just love this family! I’ve been lucky enough to work with all of them several times before and I always look forward to seeing everyone. We of course had to get a few photos of the cousins together. These girls are practically sisters and it is so sweet to see how much they all love each other.

Abigail, you will probably be hearing stories about that time you broke Aunt Cari’s nose for quite some time! Note to self: Don’t ever let Abigail’s head anywhere near my face.

Happy Birthday Miss Isabella!! Feel free to stop growing up so quickly anytime you’d like.

Vince & Sarah | Appleford Estate Wedding

This was my first wedding of the season and it was absolutely perfect! I first met with Vince and Sarah last summer and after hearing about Vince brewing his own beer, and Sarah working as a NICU nurse, I knew I had to work with the two of them. I’m aware that the two might not go together, but I love me some babies and beer ;)

Sarah instantly greeted me with a hug on Saturday. I know I’ve said it a million times, but my couples feel more like friends than they do clients and I freakin’ love it! I don’t know how I get so lucky, but not only do I get these phenomenal brides and grooms to work with, I get to meet their friends and family who make me feel so welcome.

The weather has been all over the place lately and I was almost nervous to check the weather forecast earlier this week. Apparently, I was stressing over nothing. It wound up being absolutely gorgeous. I had so much fun with this group and before I knew it the day was over. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed when it was time to head home. I think it’s pretty awesome that I get to experience one of the most important days of your life with you. Vince & Sarah, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day! I hope you love your photos!

I also have to thank my go-to girl, Jena for shooting with me!

The HoffShop

I think any photographer will tell you that no matter how much you know about photography, there is always more to learn. Always. Part of my job is making sure I am constantly pushing myself to be a better photographer. I owe it to myself. More importantly, I owe it to my clients.

I was lucky enough to attend a 2-day photography workshop called the HoffShop a few weeks ago which was hosted by Hoffer Photography. It was hard and intense, but I loved it. Not only did I walk away with a TON valuable information, I got to meet a group of incredibly talented photographers who inspire me and I’m proud to call my friends (awwwwwww).

I didn’t take many photos at the workshop, but here are a few. One of the things I loved the most was the fact that this wasn’t one of those workshops where the teacher finds the perfect light, poses the couple, and then has all the students take a photo that they didn’t create or envision. We were encouraged to take what we learned home with us and implement it into our own work and style. That, in my opinion, is how you really learn and grow.

Rob & Stacey | River Crest Golf Club Wedding

I had the chance to co-shoot a wedding with my friend Mike this past Saturday. It’s been a while since I’ve done any second shooting since I am so busy with my own clients, but I could’t say no when he asked if I’d be available to help out! I’m used to being with the bride while she is getting ready & my second shooter photographs the boys, so it was nice to do something different and spend my morning with the groomsmen this time. One of my favorite things about being a co-shooter is being able to take a step back and document things from a different perspective.

The ceremony was held at Washington Memorial Chapel which is located in Valley Forge and the reception was at the River Crest Golf Club. The weather has been incredibly unpredictable around here for the past few weeks, but aside from a little wind, we lucked out yesterday!

Not only was it great being able to work with a friend, Rob and Stacey were such a sweet couple and they made our jobs easy. I’m glad I was able to be a part of their big day! Here are just a few of my favorite photos.

Joe & Laurie | Ballroom at the Ben Wedding

There are a few weddings from this past summer and fall that never made it to the blog. Joe & Laurie’s wedding is one of them. We’re gonna go ahead and change that now:)

Joe & Laurie were married back in October. I did their engagement photos a while back and from working with them before, I had a feeling this was going to be a fun wedding. They didn’t disappoint! Not only was it a fun wedding, it was a BEAUTIFUL wedding. The reception was held at the Ballroom at the Ben in Philadelphia. Talk about an elegant venue!

The dancing started almost immediately and lasted the entire night. I’m a bit jealous I wasn’t a guest. Enjoy some of my favorite photos from Joe & Laurie’s big day. Congratulations you two!
